Google campfire ONE

Published by on november 9, 2007

When the open social web is growing into new markets, Google sponsor the fire in the campfire. That is a good think, if you like to build a tribe that build the next Internet, whey not around a fire?

“Every once in a while we’ll invite members of the developer community on campus to talk shop, share some news, and eat S’mores. We’re calling this “Google Campfire One.” Google.com

Linux in your wallet

Published by on november 8, 2007

Did hold a lecture yesterday at “Bank & Finances 07.” Most of the Swedish market leaders in the business where at this full day seminar. One of the good speakers where from OMX Group, they are nr 1 in the world to provide stock exchange with IT. They do base there IT systems on Linux. The reason is that they are not then depending on a lock solution to develop in the speed they need to stay on top of the market.

There where a lot of speakers pointing out secure payment online. A lot of the problem in my opinion is that it are too easy to move money around online. Why not develop new software that marks al the money online (then you can track every unique euro)? It could be based on Linux (that is already in your wallet, provided by OMX).

SVT on Joost and YouTube

Published by on november 7, 2007

Swedish public service television (SVT) is now open their material for Joost.com and their one channel on youtube.com. They do this before the commercial channels in Sweden. The reason for this big step is to reach young people. But at the same time I guess television is like the rest of the business world and follow the leaders, CNN/YouTube is that leader.

Where did the Gphone go?

Published by on november 6, 2007

Smart companies do understand to tap in changes and not into their own footsteps. That’s what Google is doing so well. They are open for adapting into the future. Instead of developing mobile phones that would cost them more money than they can afford (competition is strong). They open their brand for the open source culture to invent and adapt into the future.

“Despite all of the very interesting speculation over the last few months, we’re not announcing a Gphone. However, we think what we are announcing — the Open Handset Alliance and Android — is more significant and ambitious than a single phone. In fact, through the joint efforts of the members of the Open Handset Alliance, we hope Android will be the foundation for many new phones and will create an entirely new mobile experience for users, with new applications and new capabilities we can’t imagine today.” Director of Mobile Platforms, Andy Rubin, Google

Before consumers can see the future they can tap dance into Google Mobile.

Will Google introduce Googlephone today?

Published by on november 5, 2007

To be ore not to be in consumers mobile is what Google and others are fighting for right now. Google will announce their mobile strategy plans this evening. The speculation is spreading fast and is powered by headlines. Recommend reading Amol Sharma good article ”Can Google-Powered Phones. Connect With Carriers?” in The Wall Street Journal.

”Google to Announce Mobile Platform on Monday. Search giant is preparing to announce an ambitious platform for creating mobile applications.” cio.com

“Leaked Google Phone Photo: Is This For Real?” Mobilemag.com

“Google has more mobile plans, but still no Googlephone” Valleywag.com

To be ore not to be a mobile is not the question for Google, it is how you can steer the mobile tribe that search for answers in real life (brands, products, information etc). That’s why I hope to see Google Downtown in my mobile soon.

Did blogg about an idea concept I called Shitvertising. The concept is now coming out of cows.

Don’t watch this video if you are sensitive! This commercial is for Life Earth and are done by the director Johan Renck (he have been working with Madonna & H&M – don’t think she is in this commercial).

How I changed YouTube!

Published by on november 1, 2007

It is interesting to be a consumer and give input to companies and see how they react. I did write an email with suggestion to YouTube.com:

Date: Monday 3 sep 2007
To: @ youtube.com
Subject: idea and suggestion

Dear YouTube,
I think your doing a great work. I cannot find a solution how to not show other videos in on my website after the video is ending (not in your help center). The only solution is to have it in a smaller screen.
I will end up in copyright problems if I show other videos on my website, think it is better if they can go direct to youtube to see more videos (my webhost will not like the copyright problems if other videos are out on my website).
Thanks for good service and help with the above, answer so I can show the video in: width=425 height=350 and not yest in width=215 height=177.

Looking forward to here from youtube.
Best regards,

They did change it but a in the opposite way I suggested. Now they put the menu in the end of videos in every size of choise I have as a consumer. The result is that millions how choose the smaller window screen to not get the copyright problem, now get it. If they done the solution I suggested they would get more users and increased traffic.
It is off course hard to give feedback on for them. The point I pointed out for them however showed a weakness in the way they where working, and they fixed it (as the YouTube staff like to have it). But if they would listen more and develop and dialog we together could develop a better ONE solution.

A Jesus statue build with Lego

Published by on oktober 31, 2007

In Sweden is a church in Västerås taping into the consumer engagement wave. They are going to build a Jesus in Lego parts. It will need at least 20.000 white Lego parts to build it. Their priest Per Wilder (per.wilder@svenskakyrkan.se) are looking for people how have white Lego parts and wants to help build the Jesus statue, it you like to join, build ore send Lego to them – here is contact information to the Church.

Did search for “church + Lego” on Google.com and got 2.070.000 hits. It seems that Lego and religion are a strong combination.

This church is build by Amy Hughes, here first project was a large house, about 4 feet by 2 feet in size. Just like me there is a lot of question ask what’s motivate and how it’s done so she has a good FAQ on the site. What would you build?
