Sharks tweets on twitter
In Australia are now surfers reading tweets from sharks closing in the shore to avoid attacks.
Scientists attach transmitters to hundreds of sharks, including great whites, to monitor their movements near public beaches.
When a tagged shark swims within about a kilometre of a beach, it triggers an alert which is picked up by computer. That computer then instantly turns the shark’s signal into a short message on Surf Life Saving Western Australia’s (SLSWA) Twitter feed.

The idea is nice, BUT. Why not put GPS warnings on fishermen’s boats so tweets can be sent to warn the 100 million sharks they kill every year? Then sharks could move into deeper water when fishermen’s boat get to close?
